Sizing & flow

Manufacturers rate UV for ideal water gardens; because koi ponds carry heavier waste loads that feed algae, we recommend more UV per gallon — shown alongside the maker's rating.

Flow rate matters most. Keep your pump within the unit's ~1,600 GPH rating so water gets enough UV exposure — run it too fast and it simply won't clear, no matter the wattage.
Wattage guideline: ~10 W per 1,000 gal for a water garden, ~20 W per 1,000 gal for stocked koi. The 16-watt EzClear suits a small water garden or a lightly-stocked pond of roughly 800 gallons.
