Stainless Steel UV Clarifier

Matala's premium polished-316-stainless UV-C reactor wipes out green water at the source — killing the free-floating algae that no filter can catch. High UV reflection, 125 psi pressure rating, and Philips high-output lamps for big, demanding koi ponds.

Clears green water

UV-C destroys the single-cell algae that clouds the water — clarity in about 14 days when sized and flowed correctly.

Flow makes or breaks it

A UV only works if water passes the lamp slowly enough to absorb a killing dose. Match it to your pump — too fast and even a big unit won't clear the water.

Polished 316 stainless

Mirror-finish chamber reflects more UV back into the water for higher kill efficiency. Rated to 125 psi.

Easy lamp service

Lamp and quartz sleeve swap without cutting plumbing. Replace the lamp about yearly — output fades before it stops glowing.

Pond capacities in gallons. Matala = manufacturer's maximum; MK = Mystic Koi guideline (garden 10 W/1,000 gal, koi 20 W/1,000 gal), never shown above the maker's rating. Max flow = the unit's rated throughput. Plumbing: SS-75 uses 2" unions; SS-150 and SS-300 require 3" pipe.

Sizing & flow

Manufacturers rate UV clarifiers for ideal, lightly-stocked water gardens; because our customers keep heavily-stocked koi ponds, we publish a more conservative recommendation alongside the maker's rating — not a criticism of the equipment, just real-world sizing.

Flow rate is what makes or breaks a UV. Water has to pass the lamp slowly enough to absorb a killing dose of UV-C — run it too fast and even a large unit won't clear the water. Keep flow at or below the unit's rated maximum for green-water clarity (slower still to sterilize), and size your pump so the pond turns over about once per hour through the UV.
Wattage guideline: roughly 10 watts per 1,000 gallons for a lightly-stocked water garden, 20 watts per 1,000 gallons for a stocked koi pond. A 3,000-gallon koi pond calls for about 60 watts — comfortably within the SS-75.
