Mystic Koi’s take
For photographing koi, bowl size is everything: the fish should be able to swim a full body length. A 29.6" KVB-165 handles nisai comfortably; for sansai and up you want the 42" or 46". The two giant bowls are what we use at Shinkokai shows — order them well ahead of show season.

Do the special-order sizes ship freight?
Yes — the 68" and 84" bowls ship LTL freight; allow extra lead time and call us for a quote.
Can I keep a koi in a bowl?
Only briefly for inspection or photos, with an airstone if more than a few minutes. Bowls are not holding tanks.
